Where is the venue?
The ceremony and reception is at Southern Oaks!
You can visit the website here: https://www.southernoaksweddings.com/
What time is the ceremony and reception?
The ceremony begins at 7pm. You are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes early. You will not be allowed to enter the gate until 6pm, so don't be too early.
The ceremony will last about 30 minutes (perhaps less depending on how long David talks).
The reception will be held from 7:30-10:30.
What is the best way to get to and from the venue?
The venue is about 15-20 minutes from the French Quarter.
If you choose to drive, there is ample parking at the venue. Please drive safely!
Uber and Lyft are the best options for getting to the venue.
If you plan on taking Uber or Lyft from the venue, it is recommended that you reserve a ride ahead of time or allow 20-30 minutes for your rideshare service to arrive. The venue is not in a densely populated area of town and given the number of rideshare requests, it could take longer than expected for your ride to arrive.
Since it's New Orleans, can I show up to the venue with a drink in hand?
No, you may not. The venue is pretty strict about this. They don't want people showing up with open containers and bringing outside alcohol in. If anyone does, we will lose our security deposit. Additionally, no alcohol will be served during the ceremony. You may do what you'd like prior to arriving at the venue, but there will be a brief pause in alcohol consumption until the reception starts. Shortly after we say "I do", you can get at it again! We're sure you'll manage and the break might be good for you!
Will there be an after party?
We'll be in New Orleans; the whole city is an after party!
Many guests will be staying at the Marriott on Canal Street. We imagine there will be a congregation of wedding guests at the hotel bar. There is also a small dive bar across the street called Sneaky Pete's that we may just take over!
What should I wear?
To the extent that New Orleans has spring, it will be spring. That means the temperature should be fantastic. The attire is formal. Men should wear suits; women should wear dresses. You've been to a wedding. You know what to wear.
What's the food situation at the reception?
Very important question, so we're glad you asked. You will be well fed! But it may not be like other weddings you've been to. The venue has a cocktail-style menu of 80+ different items that will be continuously passed around during the reception.

Additionally, there will be a carving station serving some excellent brisket!
-
NOTE: There are plenty of vegetarian options included in the menu.

If you just want to snack on things all night as they come around, go ahead!
If you'd like to grab some brisket and some heavy hor d'oeuvres and sit down and eat all at once, you can do that too! There just won't be an assigned dinner time where we sit down and eat all at once.
Will there be an open bar?
Duh. The bar will serve beer, wine, and liquor. While your brand of choice may not be offered, you can drink as much of what is available as your little heart desires.
There will also be non-alcoholic beverages available.
Can I bring my children?
While we love your little munchkins, this is an ADULT ONLY wedding.
Is this an indoor or outdoor venue?
The 30 minute ceremony will take place outdoors. The recepetion will be held indoors, though there is a lovely outdoor area where guests can congregate as well.
I saw there is a pool in the outdoor area. Should I bring my swimsuit?
No, you should not. In fact, guest are not allowed in the pool and if you get in the pool, we will lose our security deposit. So please don't get in the pool. Besides, you'll be dressed very nice and you don't want get that suit or dress wet.
Since the wedding is on a Friday, I plan on sticking around in New Orleans on Saturday. Will I be able to hang out with the lovely Bride and Groom on Saturday?
Yes! One of the reasons we decided to do a destination wedding is that we want our guests to stick around and keep the party going! We'll be staying in New Orleans on Saturday and hope to see as many of you as we can in The Quarter. We may post a schedule of places where we can all meet up on Saturday.
